Writing Fantasy – World Building – Joined Up Writing #31

If you love to write Fantasy or speculative fiction, you’ll know just how important World Building is to your story and characters.

‘The World is a character too.”

With the help of Caladria world-builder, Bill Treadwell, we discuss different approaches to creating a believable, immersive experience for your readers. From role playing games, to fan fiction, Bill explains how his job is to ‘create a playground’ in which writers can conjure interesting characters and engaging stories.

This episode is a good companion piece to Episode 13, in which we looked at collaborative writing – again, using as our example the online fantasy universe of Caladria. If you haven’t done so already, go and have a listen. Caladria are always looking for new writers for titles like their Fab Fables series, so have a look at their submission guidelines or buy a copy of the Ezine.
