Anyone familiar with my personal blog – WayneKellyWrites – will know that I’m a huge fan of audio content, including other great podcasts of course, but I love audio books.
I’ve been a subscriber for a couple of years, which is why I’m delighted to announce that Joined Up Writing has partnered with Audible to be able to bring our listeners a free 30 day trial, which includes a free audiobook!
Use the link above to get your hands and ears on one of the brilliant 180,000 books available FOR FREE, and help support the show at the same time.
Why audio books?
If your life is anything like mine, you spend half of your time traveling to work, trying to grab exercise or finish the household chores – all of which make reading a book a little difficult. Being able to listen to books using the Audible app on my phone has meant I’ve been able to enjoy loads of brilliant books – fiction and non-fiction – including Sherlock Holmes, as read by Stephen Fry, How To Make A Living With Your Writing by Joanna Penn, comedy books like Alan Partridge and Kevin Hart and brilliant crime fiction from the likes of Dennis Lehane and William Shaw. Grab a Stephen King or devour that classic you always said you wanted to read.
They’re all brought to life by experienced actors and there have been many occasions when I’ve driven round the block a couple of extra times to get to the end of a particularly gripping chapter or walked a few extra miles finish the book.
If you want to write, you have to read and what better way to squeeze in some extra books than to fill all that dead time with an audio book?
So head over to www.audibletrial.com/joinedup for your free 30 day trial and a free audio book to download and keep. I’m going to be introducing my own Audible recommendations in future shows, but I’d love to hear from you – so let me know in the comments below which book you downloaded for your trial or if you have any other suggestions for great audio books you’ve maybe tried in the past.
