It’s episode 122 with Steve Cavanagh, author of the superbly twisty Eddie Flynn series of books – like Thirteen, Twisted and his latest novel Fifty-Fifty. Steve is funny, inspiring and insightful and we talked about his writing process, favourite books and inspirations and why all lawyers have to be good con artists.

Steve is the bestselling author of the Eddie Flynn novels as well as some standalone thrillers. In 2018 The Liar won the Crime Writers Association Gold Dagger for crime novel of the year. In 2019 Thirteen won the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the year 2019. He’s a former lawyer, born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he still lives. He also co-hosts the excellent comedy lit podcast Two Crime Writers And A Microphone and depending on where you live, his latest book Fifty-Fifty, is either out or coming out very soon.
