NaNoWriMo Tips and Scrivener with Anne Rainbow – JoinedUp#88

The first of this year’s special NaNoWriMo shows, episode 88 brings us Red Pen Editing and ScrivenerVirgin guru, Anne Rainbow giving us her tips on how Scrivener – an amazing, inexpensive bit of software – can turbocharge your Nanowrimo experience. Nanowrimo – sometimes abbreviated to Nano – is National Novel Writing Month and it comes around every November. It’s an international, online contest to see if you can write at least 50,000 words between the beginning and end of November. It’s great fun and there are local support groups wherever you live.

In this episode we’ll be paying particular attention to how Scrivener can give you a better chance of hitting your Nano target, but also how it will make editing and finishing the novel so much easier.

Anne is maybe best known as ScrivenerVirgin and her ScrivenerVirgin blog over at ScrivenerVirgin.com motivates writers to make the most of what I regularly tell you is amazing software. As RedPen Mentor, she published her book Editing The RedPen Way as a guide to writers wishing to self-edit and, for a select few, Anne supports writers in achieving their publishing dreams via her mentoring scheme.

Anne ‘discovered’ NaNoWriMo in 2009 and became ML for Devon and Cornwall in 2010. She’s currently ML for Cornwall and, as well as her duties in that region, she is offering online support ahead of NaNo, during November and after, to anyone who maybe can’t make face-to-face meetings. Everyone is welcome.

For the next seven weeks, you can also ‘Make the Most of Mondays’ with Anne. She’s promoting Come-Write-Ins at her local library on Kingsbridge, Devon, and at the Cottage Hotel, Hope Cove, where she co-hosts the Wednesday Writers group, based on the need for artist dates a la Julia Cameron’s The Artists Way.

If you want to know a little more about how I use Scrivener to write scripts, you can find a guest article from me on Anne’s blog here.
